Lighted Wire Bonsai Tree : 3 Steps - wolfewhisce
Initiation: Lighted Wire Bonsai Tree
Another wire tree! Well, I South Korean won't waste your time on how to reach the tree diagram, as there are plenty of amazing Instructables out there already. I was inspired aside Awesome Crafts for the expression of the tree diagram, and suziechuzie for my wiring ideas. In this Instructable I will revolve around how I constructed the Light-emitting diode's, and how I wired the tree.
Supplies
- 30 AWG Magnet Wire Green and Red (I used salvaged wire from transformers)
- 3v OR glower Power Supply (I used an adjustable power supply)
- In line switch Amazon
- Solder Ring Wire Connectors Virago
- 1206 LED's
- Soldering Iron
- Solder
- Mix
- Barge
- Wire Cutters
- Helping Hands for soldering
- Hot Glue Gun
Step 1: Constructing the Light-emitting diode's
Prepare the wires by cutting an half-and-half come of red and green wires 20 inches in length. Use a lighter and carefully burn off 1/4 inch of the enameled coating on both sides of the wire. Then usance some medium grit sand newspaper publisher to expose and clean the copper until it is shinny happening every last sides. On one end of each wire, trim the unclothed copper to 1/8 in, this will be the end that you solder to the LED. Tin both the LED and the wire, then solder the red wire to the positive pull and the green to the negative side. Avoid having exposed copper below your solder point as this could jumper lead to a short. Trim any excesses telegram above the LED. Then add a bead of het paste all more or less the Light-emitting diode and the telegram. This will serve to help financial support a very small/fragile solder stage as well as diffuse the LED. I past tested each one victimization a multimeter to make sure they worked.
Abuse 2: Wrap Wire and Can Tips
Determine the location for to each one LED. Wrap the red and green cable finished the branches, trunk, and down to the roots. I did mine separately, but you could plausibly do them at the same time. I then proved each one using a multimeter to make a point it worked. Once all LEDs are placed, mathematical group all of the red wires unneurotic and all of the unripened wires together. Trim to match the needs of your base so completely wires are the same length. Expose about 1/4 edge of copper on each wire victimisation the proficiency from the previous step. Tin the end of to each one telegram. Twist all of the reds together and all of the greens unneurotic, then solder them together so you take one positive wire and one Gram-negative wire.
Step 3: Wiring the Switch and Power Supply
I used an old changeful power supply because it was the only 3v source that I had. I am cheerful I did, because 3v is kind of bright, but turn it down to 1.5v and it's real nice! Bad news, if someone incidentally turns the voltage too high it leave blow the LED's. Solution, put on in a fuze. Not done yet.
Using solder ring wire connectors, which, if you haven't proved, are totally awesome, connect one end of your interchange to the positive and disconfirming of the tree, and the strange end of the switch to the power furnish. This is where that fuse would go as well. Use a light or heat gas to dissolve the solder ring and shrink the heat shrink tubing.
